HELPERS NEEDED FOR ROUND 2!!!!!!
Author: Te CoC :: Posted: Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:16 am
The above subject says it all people, we need flag marshals and helpers!

Please express interest here or call me 0275 87 88 89

If you haven't done it before this is an excellent opportunity to get involved. You get the best seats in the house and get a 'hands on' view of how a DriftSouth event is run.

Required Qualifications: You must be able to wave a flag and be happy to use a broom when directed.

Any questions?

Just been up helping with the NZ Drift Series in the weekend, Puke's bloody cool but a logistical nightmare to run as you cant see any of the drift section from the pits and the radio's were playing up a bit too but the day ran ok once we got an Ambo in (Security told the first one to piss off as they didn't have a pass ! Normally i would say pay peanuts get monkeys, but this time monkeys were paid in gold Penuts and still couldn't get it right).

First practice sessions were messy as everyone's nerves got the better of them and we spent a lot of down time recovering cars from the gravel, then The wall's claimed their first victim with Vinnie Ryan in a borrowed Cef collecting the L/R corner and then nosing the L/F into the wall too, end of that car, about the same time the ripple strips on Castrol claimed a tie rod and the tow truck was out again.

Not sure if anyone here has met Garry the groundskeeper up there but he's a crack up and a hell of a good guy too, came out at the Drivers Breifing and said" Going to tell you the same thing i tell you every time, Stay off my silly grass!"

Qualifying ran pretty well and we got into the top 16 quickly, with the 16th qualifier knocking out the top qualifier and it was all on, Daynom Templeman managed to run out of fuel mid battle and had to drop to the bottom 4 after retiring from the run, once down to the top 4 Marsden, Sole, Jackways and Armstrong.

First run being Kyle Jackways and Steven Sole, sole leading for a close first run, second run Sole chased very hard but the win went to Jackways.

Second run was Marsden vs Armstrong and first pass went well, but on the way back Hamish had a brain fade and smashed is car into the outside wall, punting one 1 ton croncrete block back almost 2 meters, sending a security guard flying, loosing his shoe under the block in the process.

Hamish emerged from the car to a cheering crowd and proceeded to show everyone he was ok by having a dance on the roof of the car before he was taken away in the ambo for a check over (his dad said he was shaken but not hurt) leaving newcomer Armstrong to proceed straight to the final and Sole with a bye for 3rd

Final run of Armstrong and Jackways was also very close with the judges giving the win to Jackways (who Qualified 16th too!)

Bloody good day, got sunburnt as usual.
Only downer for me was the attitude and abuse i copped from a drivers father (guess who) who proceeded to tell me that people like him were the reason that drifting was still running in this country! and that i did not ave any juristiction over him in Auckland!

Drift Day Dates for Jan/Feb 09
Author: Kent :: Posted: Wed Nov 12, 2008 8:23 pm
Ok, due to the large demand and many questions on the next drift days I have locked in some very hard to get dates for Drifting at Powerbuilt Ruapuna Raceway early 2009

Jan 20th (Tues) there will be an open practice day at 1pm on the B track. To attend this day you MUST have attended a drift school before. This day is designed for intermediate drivers who feel their skill level is in-between drift school and drift south. It is open to Drift South entrants but would prefer they gave way to some guys that don't get the exclusive practice days before each round. The cost will be $60, it is limited to 35 cars and if you would like to register you will need to e-mail me your name and cell num. If you are e-mailing on behalf of your mates please include their contact details.

Feb 12th (Thurs) - We will be holding another drift school. This will be run the same as the last drift school however you cannot enter if you have been to drift school more than once before. (You are best to go to the Jan 20th day). If you are interested please keep posted on this forum for the proper entry details. This will be posted up some time in Dec/Jan (if I post them up too early people end up selling/ blowing up their cars before the date)

There are no available weekend dates until April 09 hence the reason these are mid-week but this will give you heaps of time to book your days off work.

Thanks
